A fractal is a geometric concept under which both parts and the whole of the design are similar to each other. Fractals are seen widely in the natural world, in phenomena such as leaf patterns and tree branches. Fractal Shade incorporates this concept into a shade and provides a comfortable space resembling the shade and ventilation of trees. This product, which creates a shape known as a Sierpinski tetrahedron from a single piece of fabric, won the Good Design Gold Award in FY2009. It maintains sufficient functionality as a blindfold, without being oppressive, and matches modern urban spaces without any sense of discomfort.

Low-cost cooling effect without electricity

Fractal Shade, which requires no motive power, is low-cost and easy to install. It receives wind and dissipates its own heat, suppressing the generation of radiant heat and providing superior cooling effects compared to ordinary shades and tents.
The moderate clearance also makes it wind-resistant.

The sun shading rate is approximately 80%, and a cooling effect of minus 15°C or more can be expected compared to a conventional shade.
Furthermore, it also prevents radiative cooling in winter, making it an energy-saving tool that can be used in any season.
